Duties: The incumbent will plan, lead, organize and control the staff and activities of the Structures Section and will perform the duties of both a functional manager and a project manager for studies and for design and construction projects. The incumbent will provide technical direction and guidance, monitor progress of work and expenditures, and prepare special correspondences and reports on program activities and staffing.
Desirable qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a track record of successfully managing engineering teams on design and construction projects for public works; be respected among peers and staff as an effective leader; have comprehensive training and experience in project management; have the ability to scope, schedule, and budget the structural related activities of large and small projects alike; be experienced and skilled in structural engineering; be productive, hard-working, and autonomous to meet difficult goals; be able to represent herself/himself and the Structures Section well to clients and stakeholders; be detail and quality oriented; have the ability to teach others; and be able to manage multiple tasks and projects at once.
Special Requirements: Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
