Student Activities and Commuter Programs is looking for candidates interested in joining the Hugh McPeck Gallery as its Gallery Manager. If you have a passion for art and creative expression, come lead our completely student managed Hugh McPeck Gallery!
The Gallery Manager is a $11.50/hr position.
Candidate with previous experience working with and helping others is preferred. The ability to work effectively with others as part of a diverse team is essential. Prior experience working as a member of the Student Activities Team at the University of Alaska Anchorage is highly desirable.
It is necessary that the applicant be able to lift up to 40 lbs with or without accommodations, and climb indoor ladders. The applicant must be reliable, punctual, have a strong work ethic, have excellent communication skills, and have a willingness to learn.
To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must have the following requisites: 1) They must be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; 2) Have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA); 3) Student enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
The applicant must be able to work with fragile art pieces and objects. The applicant must be able to work at least 15 hours per week.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Previous experience in art, marketing, gallery work, and/or food preparation is preferred. Preference will be given to individuals with an appreciation or background in art, as well as individuals who already have a food worker certification through the Municipality of Anchorage.
