Springfield Local Schools ANNOUNCEMENT OF CLASSIFIED SUBSTITUTE VACANCY
Position: Substitute Bus Driver Location: District Hours: Various Rate of Pay: $17.25 per hour All substitutes must be approved for employment by the Board of Education prior to payment for services rendered. ALL Substitutes must have the following paperwork on file:
On-Line Submitted Application, including resume
Three Letters of Reference (recent and non-family member)
BCII and FBI Check (Springfield can do check for you, cost is $50.00)
High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Completion of pre-employment drivers training program, basic and advances bus drivers education program, bus drivers certificate, valid CDL.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Be physically qualified as determined by an annual physical examination.
Willingness to work with students, staff and community members.
Good health, high moral character, good attendance and work record.
Prior related work experience preferred.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Alternatives to the above qualifications that the Board of Education may find appropriate.
Substitutes may be asked to perform the following functions:
Obeys all traffic laws.
Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
Keeps assigned bus clean inside. The school will be responsible for keeping the outside of the bus clean. Driver is to keep the front and rear windows clean at all times. When a spare bus is issued; the bus is to be swept, fueled and all windows and doors closed.
Keeps assigned schedule. Driver is to carry accurate timepiece on the bus. Driver will report to the point of departure 15 minutes before a field trip.
Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects. Driver is to be at the bus 15 minutes before the start of his/her first daily run.
Notifies the proper authority in case of a mechanical failure or serious delay.
Discharges students only at authorized stops.
Exercises responsible leadership during out of district trips. Driver is to be in charge.
Transports only authorized students.
Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
Completes all reports as requested.
Enforces regulations against the use of tobacco and eating on the bus.
Routes are not to be changed without approval of the Transportation Supervisor.
