High School graduate with supplemental courses in electricity and metering. Undergraduate degree preferred. Knowledge of meter installation and maintenance procedures preferred. Knowledge of Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission regulations preferred. 5 years of meter operations experience preferred. Working knowledge of meter data communications methods. Working knowledge of Oracle Customer Information Systems. Demonstrated ability to supervise, plan, and allocate work to others. Valid PA Class C Driver’s license.
This level may be the entry level into management if position is responsible for a critical function or function managed requires a broad set of knowledge and expertise. Or this position may be the second level manager to functions of a transactional or production based nature where there are supervisors with primarily staff personnel underneath.
Primary focus is on day to day management of operational execution for areas managed. Trains and develops staff. Plans the flow of work. Directs available resources to accomplish process improvement. Leads work flow changes and implementations for direct team.
Problems and issues are undefined and require detailed info gathering, analysis, and investigation to understand/resolve. Makes decisions that address work flow issues considering immediate impact on own function or work unit. Routinely makes tactical level decisions to further the operational and strategic goals of the department and company.
Employee will be driving frequently. Daily use of computer terminal. Exposed to all weather types daily (i.e., heat, cold, snow, rain, etc.). Incumbent must traverse rough terrain and construction sites. Energized equipment, animal, plant, hazards may be encountered. Incumbent will be exposed to customers, potential for irate customer conflict.
