Responsible for oversight and coordination of staff functions related to dental back office including but not limited to, patient flow, sterilization, inventory and supply ordering, chart documentation, quality and safety practices as they relate to dental back office staff. This position is also responsible for ensuring efficiency of back office dental operations and for mentoring, coaching, and training new dental back office staff
ResponsibilitiesImplement and monitor back office workflows to improve efficiencies and minimize patient wait times.Provide ongoing training and mentorship to dental back office staff, including but not limited to computer systems, infection control, clinical practice skills, and customer service.Responsible for implementing evidence-based leadership practices to improve employee engagement for back office staff (i.e., Rounding, AIDET validation, etc.).Maintain supply inventory standards and place orders as needed to meet par levels and ensure the appropriate supplies and tools are available.Collaborate with Dental Office Manager and Site Dental Director to create processes and action steps improve quality and service provided by back office staff.Attend meetings, training, and/or seminars as it pertains to department, clinic, and/or program goals and objectives.Coordinate adequate staffing and scheduling of all dental department personnel, including managing requests for float and registry staff, and incorporating break, lunch and extended hours coverage as per labor and HR regulations.Step in for DA/RDA if needed to cover gaps in coverage.Responsible for driving performance to meet organizational goals as defined in LEM under the quality, service, finance and people pillars.In collaboration with clinic management team, address and document patient concerns as needed to ensure a satisfactory resolution.Interview, hire and onboard new back office team members.Serve as the dental back office subject matter expert in cross-functional collaborations with other corporate departments such as Purchasing, Infection Control, HR, and Training.Prepare reports and maintain logs at the site level as needed.Maintains all Dental Department equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s directions and Dental Department policy and protocol.Insures the sterility of all reusable dental instruments and equipment in accordance with Dental Department directives and protocols.Insures the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with Dental Department directives, clinic policy, as well as state and federal regulations.Participates in appropriate health promotion / disease prevention activities, both on-site and off-site as required.Travels when necessary to meet operational needs.Responsible for personal compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, clinic rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures including but not limited to the participation of a Dental Assistant in the provision of clinical dental care. This would also include those relating to, but not limited to personnel issues, work place safety, public health and confidentiality.Demonstrates basic Knowledge of Infection & Exposure control and sterile techniques through pre-employment and annual competency assessments for a dental practice.Possesses and maintains a valid and current license with the State of California as a registered dental assistant or dental assistantDemonstrate flexibility by working evening clinic, weekends, overtime, and float to other clinics as assigned.Responsible for administrative tasks to be completed for the dental site.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QualificationsHigh school Diploma required.Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a dental office setting required.Active Registered Dental Assistant certification along with sealant certification required.Current CPR (BLS) required.
