Job SummaryThe Supervisor will ensure that the needs of the residents are met. Assuring staff provide high quality resident care in a cost effective manner. The Supervisor is responsible for acting as a liaison for the nursing staff (RN’s, LPN’s, Certified Aide's, Certified Nursing Assistant’s), keeping them up to date on changes that effect the department and planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care as well as acting as a liaison to residents, families and others in the community. The Supervisor will address and solve unit problems, and will remain current and informed on new equipment and procedures to remain a resource to the staff and being able to train staff on new equipment and procedures. Assists staff to maintain and upgrade the competencies of professional and non-professional personnel on the nursing unit. Promotes an atmosphere that encourages cooperative and harmonious relationships among employees within nursing and other departments. Nursing service functions are clearly defined and most unit problems will be addressed and solved by the director. This position will also serve as a staff RN and will be responsible for assisting on the nursing units when needed to ensure adequate staffing is available.
●Monitors QI processes to ensure that these meet the needs of regulatory agencies.
●Actively seeks creative ways to reduce operating expenses by improving processes, products, services and overall department efficiency.
●Acts as a liaison and facilitator between hospitalist/primary care provider, staff, and all team members regarding patient care. Serves as a patient advocate.
●Appropriately utilizes unit-level and ancillary personnel to meet patient care needs, as evidenced by documentation, observation, and feedback.
●Anticipate and facilitate process improvement.
●Analyze systems and procedures to make recommendations for change to improve workflow and efficiency.
●All other duties as assigned.
Certification - Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
Experience - 1+ years of Long Term Care Experience
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
