My Life My Choice is a survivor-led pioneer in the fight to end the commercial sexual exploitation of children. We believe that no child should be bought or sold. It is our daily fight — our strategic and urgent endeavor. We offer a continuum of survivor-led services, including Survivor Mentoring and intensive case management; exploitation prevention groups and solutions; and professional trainings and advocacy. Since 2002, My Life My Choice has served more than 2,800 youth and trained more than 15,000 providers, in Massachusetts and nationally.
A Survivor Mentor at My Life My Choice is someone who identifies as a survivor of the commercial sex industry and provides long-term, consistent support to young victims of commercial sexual exploitation in Eastern Massachusetts. While our office is based in Boston, as a Survivor Mentor you will travel to meet one-on-one with mentees throughout Eastern Massachusetts. As a Survivor Mentor, you will work with other survivors and clinicians on the My Life My Choice Survivor Empowerment team to support a caseload of young victims in helping them find safety, healing, and hope. This position is supervised by an Assistant Clinical Director.
As A SURVIVOR MENTOR, you will:
Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to adolescent mentees (including youth of all genders) who have been commercially sexually exploited.
Collaborate with other My Life My Choice team members to develop appropriate support services, education, and placement plan for each mentee being served.
Work collaboratively with external service providers, including law enforcement to enhance each mentee’s safety and ability to aid in a prosecution, when appropriate.
Provide consistent and accurate documentation of each contact with your assigned mentees.
Attend regular supervision and coaching meetings, as well as bi-weekly staff meetings and trainings.
When appropriate, co-facilitate exploitation prevention groups for adolescent girls.
Personal history as a survivor of commercial sexual exploitation as an adolescent or young adult. (This may include exploitation through prostitution, stripping, or pornography.)
Minimum of five years recovery from sexual exploitation (out of the commercial sex industry).
A current MA driver’s license and access to a car.
Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
A personal interest in, and commitment to, working with adolescent girls.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Positive attitude and belief in the hope of recovery from commercial sexual exploitation for adolescent girls.
