Under the direction of the Sr. Administrative Director and in collaboration with the facility leaders, provides leadership and direction to cross-functional teams empowered to execute the Systems Redesign strategy for process improvement, productivity improvement and cost reduction. Delivers breakthrough levels of improvement in process capability, re-engineering business processes to reduce cost and increase productivity and attain world-class levels of quality, through the development and implementation of training program(s) on Systems Redesign (PDCA / Lean / Six Sigma) philosophy, theory and application tools/tactics. The Systems Redesign Specialist will be responsible for identifying and managing improvement opportunities for key operational initiatives which decrease variation, cost and cycle times; enhancing safety and identifying and promoting evidenced based operation and clinical performance.
The Systems Redesign Specialist supports leadership in identifying and developing a portfolio of organizational improvement initiatives associated with high priority strategic goals that will be conducted in the organization. Other responsibilities include analyzing current best practices in various departments to define and understand their needs and deliver innovative solutions leveraging Lean and Six Sigma tools and methods where appropriate and identifying and communicating barriers to appropriate leadership staff and recommending and implementing plan to assure improved outcomes and financial results.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a health care related field. Master’s degree in an industry, quality or healthcare-related field and direct patient care (clinical) experience highly desired.
Licensure: Green Belt certification or the like in Lean / Six Sigma required. Black Belt preferred. CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) preferred.
Experience: Training and experience in current quality improvement methodologies, facilitation, change and project management.
At least 5 years’ experience in the following areas required (preferably in an acute care healthcare setting)
- Process / performance improvement
- Project leadership (project management certification preferred)
- Change management
- Quality / performance improvement management
- Lean / Six Sigma project management
Successful leadership and facilitations of at least 5 projects with significant waste reduction or cost savings in the past 5 years.
Ability to conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative information with strong analytical problem solving planning and use of statistical process control charts.
Demonstrated ability to perform complex data analysis, draw appropriate conclusions, and convey recommendations to all levels of the organization through written reports and group presentations.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and to promote cooperation, organization collaboration, and high performance within and across disciplines.
Working knowledge of accreditation standards (Joint Commission, CMS, Title 22, etc.) preferred.
Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, project, and presentation computer applications software.
