Prepares Navy Surface Ship, Army Watercraft, and commercial specifications and technical manuals from drawings, engineering change notices, customer specifications, and/or published datasheets. Develops and edits text, tables and in-text graphics/figures using common desktop publishing software, SGML/HTML/XML editing software, and Navy publishing systems. Maintains customer specifications files; reviews customer drawings and data; translates customer language into standard procedures and product flow.
Essential Job Responsibilities

High School and 4 years of additional education or 4 years of relevant experience.
The selected candidate must have the following to qualify for this position:• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential Security Clearance.• Current or prior shipboard or marine industrial experience.• Military Technical Manual development experience.• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings/wiring schematics.• Editing and writing in SGML/HTML/XML• MS Word and overall MS Office experience.
Preferred candidate would have experience with the following;• Developing industrial and/or military specifications/procedures/manuals in SGML/HTML/XML, and be familiar with equipment and system engineering drawings.• Propulsion or electrical shipboard experience but ideally will have Army Watercraft (LCU and LSV) experience• Experience with military publishing systems (NAVLOGTD, Army IADS or EMS NG).• Experience with developing and editing Navy or Army Watercraft technical manuals.
Job performance may require working in an industrial or shipboard environment. Must be capable of climbing ladders, and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
