Affordable Lawn Sprinklers and Lighting is looking for 1-2 Service Team Technicians. We are one of the top-rated irrigation and landscape lighting providers in the DC area with a reputation for quality and a close knit team that feels like family. The Service Team Technician independently conducts maintenance, service and repair activities on existing sprinkler and low voltage landscape lighting systems. This is a physical position and involves work outdoors in a variety of conditions. Experience is an asset, however, Affordable Lawn Sprinklers and Lighting will train employees. You will need to be able to work independently or with a team. The Service Team Technician will be required to document work for billing and communicate easily with clients and staff.
Please note that a satisfactory driver report as confirmed by our insurance carrier and a valid Driver’s License are required for this position. Basic bilingual English and Spanish skills are required for this position.
This is a seasonal, hourly position with the opportunity to earn commissions and receive performance bonuses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - The examples of functions listed in this job description are representative, but not necessarily exhaustive, of activities required for this job. Management may assign other functions not listed herein at its sole discretion.
- Work independently to travel to and service landscape lighting or irrigation / sprinklers systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair and provide maintenance of basic low voltage landscape lighting and/or sprinkler irrigation systems.
- Communicate with customer about system issues, need and improvements.
- Communicates billing details and collects payments from customers.
- Conduct maintenance activities relating to annual spring tune ups and winterizations and make adjustments to system as necessary.
- Conducts all activities in a proper and safe manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES
Knowledge Areas: Basic and moderately-complex irrigation systems and low-voltage lighting projects; proper grounds maintenance and gardening principles using tools and equipment safely; basic plumbing skills; basic mathematics; water management; various plants and their proper care; administrative processes (e.g., Irrigation Reports and Service Requests); elementary computer skills; PPE; safe work practices; and exemplary customer service objectives, norms, and strategies.
Skills: Diagnose, and repair basic and moderately-complex, computerized irrigation systems and low voltage lighting systems; use PPE as required; use and maintain hand tools (e.g., shovel, rake, broom) and equipment (e.g., trenchers, tampers, weed eater, blower, stick edger) properly and safely; read blueprints; communicate and work effectively with others; time management; and excellent customer service by demonstrating courtesy, efficiency, and professionalism.
Experience with professional irrigation, lighting, and landscape experience similar to that described above is preferred.

Working Conditions: Work is predominately outdoors, exposed to varying temperatures, irrigation and water settings, weather conditions, and noise levels; exposure to dust, pesticides, herbicides, grease, oils, dust, fumes, and electrical currents.

Introductory Period: Incumbents appointed to this job classification serve an introductory period of three months.
