MDT is looking fortemporary snowplow drivers with heavy equipment operation experience for winterroad maintenance. This includes snow removal, cleaning the right of way, fixingguardrail, repairing fences, signs, and luminaires, traffic control and saltbrine production.
Hours varydepending on weather and the needs of thesection.Must be available for emergency weather conditions and be able towork on weekends and holidays as needed.
Season typically begins mid-November and ends in March, dependingon weather.
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and remainfocused and seated for extended periods of time. Must be able to performmoderate physical activity in lifting, carrying, and/or operating the toolsandequipment.

Requires combination ofexperience to include: one (1) year experience driving heavy truck andoperating construction equipment.
Computer knowledge in order toaccess and utilize the Remote Weather Information Sites, MMS, e-mail, andelectronic forms such as accident/incident reports and time slips.
Requires a valid MontanaCommercial Operators License (Class A Type II) with endorsements for air brakesand tankers. Previous MDT Experience preferred but not required.
Successful applicant(s) will besubject to Driving Record Check. Applicants will be required to sign arelease for which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant's permanentdriving records. Compliance with Mont. Admin.R.2.6.201, "StateVehicle Use," and MDT Policy #3-0134, "Addendum to Risk Managementand Tort Defense Division State Vehicle Use Policy" are conditions ofemployment.
Successful applicant must liveor relocate within 30 miles of the work headquarters and must have a telephoneor be reasonably accessible to the section headquarters.
