TheUltrasonographer will demonstrate an understanding of cross-section humananatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology to obtain optimalultrasound studies. Will constantlyevaluate accuracy and quality of scan results. The Ultrasonographer will maintain knowledge in all facets of performingthe optimal ultrasound scan. Thisincludes pertinent clinical history and related diagnostic procedures,ultrasound physics and instrumentation, normal anatomy and pathologicalvariants. The Ultrasonographer will becompetent in production, use recognition and analysis of ultrasound images andpatterns used for patient diagnosis and treatment. He/she will maintain knowledge abouthigh-frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques for medicalpurposes. The Ultrasonographer willassist the radiologist in the completion of intricate ultrasound examinations,including a range of tissue biopsies and fluid drainages. The Ultrasonographer is the primary liaisonbetween patients and departmental physicians and other members of the supportteam. They must remain sensitive to thephysical and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patientassessment, patient monitoring, and patient care skills. They maintain confidentiality of allpertinent patient care information to assure that patient’s rights areprotected. Ability to develop andmaintain good working relationships both inter- and intra-departmentally; tofoster good customer relations and to observe the Skyline Medical Centermission statement. Ability to beknowledgeable and compliant with the policies, procedures, and regulationsrelating to the Department of Medical Imaging. Ability to use professional and ethical judgment and critical thinkingwhen performing their duties. Qualityimprovement and customer service allow the Ultrasonographer to be a responsiblemember of the health care team by continually assessing professionalperformance. The Ultrasonographer willparticipate in continuing education for optimal patient care, public educationand enhanced knowledge and technical competence.
