The Utility Special District Executive Director is specifically charged with planning, managing and directing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the Utility Special District. This senior management position performs a wide variety of utility related tasks as necessary and assigned.
These responsibilities include responding to and resolving sensitive and complex community and organizational inquires and complaints. Duties will also involve managing emergencies and natural disasters to include compliance with respective regulatory requirements for water and wastewater permits including the water use permit for the health and safety of customers. The incumbent in this position is required to stay current on issues relative to water resources, water rights, wastewater treatment, water treatment, and other issues relative to the department's service delivery responsibilities. Knowledge of modern principles and practices of water resources management programs, wastewater treatment and collection, water treatment and distribution, alternative water supply planning and implementation, and customer service.
A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field and seven (7) years of experience in a water, wastewater or public works setting to include five (5) years in a management capacity with responsibility for a large division within a public utility agency; or any equivalent combination of training and experiences. Professional Engineer (PE) status by the State of Florida is preferred.
A valid Florida Driver's License and successful passing of a background check and drug screening are mandatory. All applicants must upload educational diploma/degree and driver's license at time of application submission. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
