The responsibility of the Utility District Executive Director is to plan, manage, and direct the day to day operations and services of the Utility District; and performs related duties as assigned. Must stay current on issues relative to water resources, water rights, wastewater treatment, water treatment, and other issues relative to the department's service delivery responsibilities. Responsible for compliance with the regulatory requirements for water and wastewater permits including the water use permit for the health and safety of the customers. Knowledge of modern principles and practices of water resources management programs, wastewater treatment and collection, water treatment and distribution, alternative water supply planning and implementation, and customer service. Responds to and resolves sensitive and complex community and organization inquires and complaints; responds to emergencies and natural disasters. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field and seven (7) years experiences in a water, wastewater or public works setting to include five (5) years in management capacity with responsibility for a large division within a public utility, or any equivalent combination of training and experiences. Professional Engineer (PE) by the State of Florida preferred.
