UX Lead Job Description
Tired of designing shopping carts and landing pages? Are you looking for a challenge or more meaningful UX work? Then why not join our team of UX professionals where you will work on complex medical applications used in a pharmaceutical environment where patient lives are impacted daily. We are currently in the process of completely redesigning our suite of medical applications and the core system that powers our pharmacies. This is an on-going effort phased over the next few years.
You will play a key role in this effort working with junior and senior UX designers, visual designers and UX researchers in a highly collaborative and learning environment. Our designs present both unique and complex challenges you will have to work through. But, you won’t have to do it alone and we promise there’s rarely a boring day. You’ll grow your portfolio and sharpen your design skills quickly with our team as we iteratively build out new products and features over the coming years.
Sense of humor required.
What you will be doing is the following:
You will lead and inspire my team by way of thought leadership, best practices, and framing up the product vision in terms that everyone can understand and aspire to achieve.
2. VISIONING AND IDEATION
You should be able to see the forest for the trees, and understand the importance of each. You will be facilitating visioning and ideation sessions that help to shape what our products should be.
3. FRAMEWORKS AND GUIDELINES
You will set up the team with conceptual frameworks and guidelines at the start of a project, and maintain these frameworks and guidelines with rigor over the course of a project.
4. INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE
You will have an innate ability for laying out information architecture, on both a macro and micro scale. You should be able to digest large volumes of information and make sense of it for the end user.
5. RESEARCH AND TESTING
You should know the importance of bringing end users into the process early on, by way of observation, interviews, lo-fi or hi-fi testing. This helps prevent major course correction late in the game.
You will understand the importance of delivering pixel-perfect mockups to the engineering team, and prototyping certain pieces when needed.
You should be well-versed in a wide range of prototyping tools, and always open to learning new ones. You will encourage the team to use both lo-fi and hi-fi prototyping to quickly test out an idea.
You will understand the importance of documenting in a clear, concise, efficient, easy-to-digest manner, making it easy for those who need to approve and build what we’re designing.
You will have an eye for detail, and know how important it is for you to stay close to your team and know the details of their work to make sure we’re designing the best experience possible.
You will be able to think visually and collaborate seamlessly with strategists, researchers, visual designers, engineers, and analysts, and can do so in both formal and ad hoc settings.
11. OPEN DIALOG
You will take initiative to meet early and often with other groups, and encourage your team to do the same. The best work happens when we have open dialog and can engage organically.
You will know how to give and get feedback, both positive and negative, in a constructive way, that helps move the work forward and creates the best experience for everyone
