Background
People’s Community Action Corporation (PCAC) is seeking caring people committed to children’s well-being to be virtual learning coordinators as well as serve as chaperones for students ages 8 to 16. PCAC is establishing a learning hub for children of working parents in response to community needs during the coronavirus pandemic. The virtual learning coordinators (VLCs) will supervise public and/or private school students attending the hub during regular school hours while their parents are at work.
Duties & Responsibilities
Virtual learning coordinators will support individual student study in a virtual learning environment. In brief, VLCs will perform duties in-person at the learning hub, including a) practicing CDC protocols and measures for public health safety, b) communicating with students verbally and visually, c) helping students with coursework lessons, d) assisting students with posting homework assignments and e) providing technology support for students using distance learning.
Virtual learning coordinators are required to complete the following specific tasks, at a minimum:
•Ensure compliance by students, parents and staff with CDC coronavirus-related measures (notably, mask wearing, social distancing and proper hand washing) to establish and maintain a safe health environment
•Oversee the daily disinfecting of student desks and technology equipment in the learning hub
•Maintain daily student sign-in and sign-out registration sheets
•Resolve technical or connectivity issues for students at the learning hub
•Assist students in answering questions related to their course content
•Use whiteboards to illustrate inquiry, exploration, solution-finding and resolution processes with students related to their coursework
•Reply to student messages during and after school hours
•Respond to messages from parents and outside school administrators
•Share successful approaches in assisting students with peer VLCs
