Rockford Corporation specializes in the construction and repair of steel tanks,fueling and utility systems for the military. It has successfully completed fuel and utility-related construction projects for the Alaska District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; Naval Facilities Engineering Command and U.S. Coast Guard. In the last five years Rockford successfully completed a $21 million Type III Hydrant Fuel System and New KC135 Parking Apron at Eielson Air Force Base and an $8 million Design-Build Aircraft Direct Refueling System (ADRF) at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Rockford received “Outstanding” Evaluations for both of these projects. Summary: Lays out,assembles,installs,and maintains pipe systems,pipe supports,and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam,hot water,heating,cooling,lubricating,sprinkling,and industrial production and processing systems. Appliesknowledge of system operation,and following blueprints.Selects type and size of pipeand related materials and equipmentsuch as: supports,hangers,and hydraulic cylindersaccording to specifications. Essential Functions: Layout,fitandweld 1-1/2” to 4” stainless steel pipe using an GTAW procedure. Layout,fitandweld 6” carbon steel pipe using a SMAW procedure. Must be able to perform all weld procedures in the 6G position. Perform pipe preparation duties,including cutting,beveling,and fitting as required. Weld steel angle,unistrut, etc. as required. Assist with concrete forming,trenching,testing,cleanup,and all other duties as assigned. Must be able to perform all work safely in accordance with Rockford’s safety procedures and guidelines. Maintain a clean and orderly work place. Plan pipe system layout,installation,or repair,according to specifications. Inspect,examine,or test installed systems or pipe lines using pressure gauge,hydrostatic testing,observation,or other methods. Select pipe sizes,types,or related materials.Suchas supports,hangers, or hydraulic cylindersaccording to specifications. Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading. Attach pipes to walls,structures,or fixtures. Suchas radiators or tanks,using brackets,clamps,tools,or welding equipment. Assemble or secure pipes,tubes,fittings,or related equipmentaccording to specificationsby welding,brazing, cementing, soldering,or threading joints. Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports,and related equipment following blueprints. Turn valves to shut off steam,water,or other gases or liquids from pipe sectionsusing valve keys or wrenches. Cut,thread,or hammer pipes to specificationsusing tools such as saws, cutting torches,pipe threaders,or pipe benders. Remove and replace worn components. |
Requirements | Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise: Must be able to qualify to Rockford’s GTAW weld procedure in the 6G position. Must be able to qualify to Rockford’s SMAW weld procedure in the 6G position. Welds will be NDE testedincluding x-ray,in accordance with ASME B31.3 Must be able to read and interpret construction plans and drawings. Must be able to properly layout and fit pipe,steel angle,and unistrut. Must be able to prepare pipe,including cutting and beveling. Required Experience: 5 years pipefitting experience, 5 years welding experience with GTAW procedures. 5 years experience in construction related to fuel and energy systems. Physical Demands: Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm. See details of objects that are less than a few feet away. Rapid mental and/or muscle coordination. Use fingers or hands to grasp,move,or assemble small objects. Speak clearly so listeners can understand. Will wear ANSI approved safety footwear/ safety glasses/hard hats. Understand the speech of another person. Use muscles to lift,push,pull,or carry heavy objects.
